Miss Korea's Story

For a Korean living in New Zealand, nothing made me homesick more than missing the taste of my Mother’s freshly fermented Kimchi. When I decided to channel my 10,000 kilometre from home craving into a fresh Korean-Kiwi take of my childhood staple - Miss Korea Kimchi was born. 

After several years of creative trial and error kimchi making, I perfected my recipes, built relationships to source only the finest quality local fresh vegetables and was ready to share my sensational range of Kimchi with the taste buds of Kiwi fermented vegetable lovers. 

In 2019 I left my career in the public sector and started selling my Kimchi at local markets across Wellington, the Hutt Valley and Porirua, building a loyal customer base along the way.

Miss Korea Kimchi eschews traditional animal based ingredients like fish sauce and shrimp paste for plant based alternatives, making Miss Korea 100% vegan while retaining all the umami flavours kimchi lovers enjoy.

After making New Zealand my home for over 20 years, I am so happy to share a part of my culinary heritage with you in what I believe is essentially a result of two cultures I love.
